Update on retroactive wages for former College Support Part-Time staff

Update on Bill 124 Retroactive Wages

To: all casual, temporary and student employees who were employed after November 29, 2022, but are no longer employed:

We are pleased to inform you that the College Support Part-Time bargaining team has met with the employer and finalized the process for requesting retroactive wages. We understand that this may not pertain to you, however, we are contacting all college support staff to connect with those who may have moved into Full-Time positions and/or know someone who is no longer employed but should receive this message.

If you were employed after November 29, 2022, you are eligible to claim these wages. To initiate your request, please contact the applicable college directly, following the instructions below. It is important to provide your employment details to facilitate the process in a timely manner, as the previous deadline of December 31, 2023, has been extended to January 15, 2024.

The Minutes of Settlement state that employees with Casual, Temporary and Student contracts employed by the College as a Casual, Temporary or Student employee after November 29, 2022, but who are no longer employed by the College and who notify in writing the College on or before January 15, 2024, will receive retroactive payments. Additionally, retroactive payments shall be made by June 30, 2024.

Please note: this does not apply to those in the following categories, as their wages will be adjusted automatically:

  • Current bargaining unit employees, as of the signing of the Minutes of Settlement on October 18 (payment date: December 31, 2023);
  • Former bargaining unit employees who continue to be employed by the college as of the signing of the Minutes of Settlement on October 18, 2023 (payment date: December 31, 2023);
  • Regular Part-Time employees who are no longer employed by the college (payment date: June 30, 2024);
  • Project of Non-Recurring Kind (PNRK) employees who are no longer employed by the college (payment date: June 30, 2024).

The Minutes of Settlement are available on the OPSEU/SEFPO website:https://opseu.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/CAAT-S-PT-MOS.pdf

Please refer to the list below for each College’s contact information and notify the applicable College that you are requesting your retroactive wage payment. You are required to include the following information:
